Volunteer
The Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) welcomes new volunteers to help rescue unwanted and orphaned pets in the Huntsville community. The GHHS is always looking for kind-hearted and responsible people who want to donate their time and talents to help our shelter pets. If you are a compassionate individual that wants to help save the lives of displaced pets in the Huntsville area, we invite you to become a GHHS volunteer. You can help by donating your time in a variety of different areas of service. All volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training class held the third Saturday of each month from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, and you must be at least sixteen years of age. You must preregister to attend the orientation and training class. A donation to cover our administrative costs (t-shirt, slip-lead and training materials) is requested as follows:
- $20.00 for students 16 to 22
- $30.00 for adults
- $15.00 for seniors (55 and older)
To start your volunteer experience, you must complete an online application or visit our shelter at 2812 Johnson Road. You can also make your donation online to cover the administrative fees listed above by clicking VOLUNTEER!
We rely heavily on our dedicated volunteers to help with our everyday tasks including caring for our pets, answering the phones, special events, humane education and customer support. We welcome diversity and a wide range of age groups. With your help, we can make a difference. If you would like to volunteer at our Thrift Store, please call 256.881.3888. Become a GHHS volunteer today! For additional information regarding our Volunteer Program contact volunteer@greaterhuntsvillehumanesociety.org.
